The 4 days Lake Mburo and Kibale chimpanzee trekking safari is an interesting safari that will take you to Lake Mburo national park and Kibale forest national park which is also known as the primate capital.

During the 4 days of Lake Mburo and Kibale chimpanzee trekking, you will get an opportunity to spend time with the chimpanzees in their natural environment and also spot different animals like buffaloes, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, giraffes, zebras, impalas, hippos, and Nile crocodiles, among others, during the game drive and walking safari.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park-walking safari

On the first day of the 4 days Lake Mburo wildlife and chimpanzee trekking, you will be welcomed by our driver guide from either your hotel in Entebbe or Entebbe international airport to start the journey to Lake Mburo national park. On the way you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe, where you will buy souvenirs and take photos. From the Equator, you will proceed to Lake Mburo national park and upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will go for a guided nature walk where you will get up close and personal with the wild animals, listen to the sweet sounds of birds singing in trees, enjoy the cool breeze, and take beautiful pictures, among other things. After the walking safari, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Kibale forest national park

On the second day of the 4 days Lake Mburo wildlife and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will have an early breakfast and meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive in the park, where you will be able to view buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, impalas, topi, oribi, waterbucks, hippos, elands, and warthogs, among others.

After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch, whereafter you will check out of the lodge to transfer to Kibale forest national park with lunch en route. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

After an early breakfast on the third day of the 4 days Lake Mburo wildlife and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu visitors Centre for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will be subdivided into groups of 6 people, where each group will be allocated a habituated chimpanzee family to trek and an experienced park guide.

Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 5 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are located, because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.

During trekking, you will be able to view other primate species, mammals, and bird species, among others. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in the habitat, which gives you an opportunity to watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, resting, and hunting, and to take photos and record videos.

After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will meet up with your driver guide and return to the lodge for lunch, whereafter you will go for an interesting nature walk in Bigodi wetland, where you will be able to spot different primates and bird species, among others. After the Bigodi swamp walk, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Departure to Entebbe

On the last day of the four days of Lake Mburo wildlife and Kibale chimpanzee trekking, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kampala. On the way, you will have lunch en route, and upon Arrival, your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of advice.
