You will start your incredible journey with a visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to trek rhinos and the impressive waterfalls in Murchison Falls National Park. In Kibale Forest National Park you are in a treat, have a superb encounter with our closest relatives in the wild – the chimpanzees. Enjoy a safari experience in Queen Elizabeth National Park, followed by an adventurous meet and greet with Bwindi’s gentle giants – the mountain gorillas.

Detailed itinerary of 12 Days Uganda Adventure

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Rhino trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast, make your way to Uganda’s oldest national park – Murchison Falls. On the way you take a break visiting the rhinos of the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and once arrived in Murchison, you can starting looking forward to a safari of the unique kind.

Day 3: Boat Safari to the Murchison Falls + Top Of The Falls Hike – safari in Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast you will go out for a morning game drive, lookout for several animals including lions, giraffes, leopards, buffaloes, zebras, Uganda kobs among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a boat safari to the Murchison Falls.

The River Nile Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park takes two hours while spotting hippos and crocodiles in the water and several other animals on the shores. The boat eventually leads you to the bottom of the impressive 43-metre-high Murchison Falls, where you can feel the fresh water droplets on your face while seeing the water cascading down. The falls are so powerful that is impossible to get very close, but trust us you will be impressed nevertheless.

Hike to the top of Murchison Falls following in the footsteps of famous people like Winston Churchill to the top of Murchison Falls. This 45-minute hike is relatively easy as the path is paved with steps and footbridges. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Drive from Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park

Embark on a 6 hour drive to Kibale Forest National Park, this drive leads you past welcoming villages, rainforests, charming tea plantations and mesmerizing crater lakes. If the weather is clear, you can see the Rwenzori Mountains with their snow-capped peaks and then get ready for Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world with 13 different species of monkeys and the largest population of chimpanzees.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale National Park – Swamp walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

Wake early for breakfast and head into the rainforests of Kibale Forest to observe our closest relatives play, eat and groom each other. The trek takes approximately 2-4 hours with 1 hour of being in presence of the chimpanzees.

Head back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a swamp walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. During the way you will see several bird species, monkeys, rare animals, plants and flowers. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Drive from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park – safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park on a drive of 2 hours, you can enjoy the sights while passing through the crater lake area around Kasenda and seeing the peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains. Arrive in the park in time for lunch at your lodge after check-in, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive giving you a perfect introduction of wildlife in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 7: Morning game drive – Boat safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park  

Spend a full day in Queen Elizabeth National Park on a morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. After breakfast, meet your guide and head to the Kasenyi Plains where you will see various animals including lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, Uganda kobs among others.

Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, as you cruise you will see hippos and crocodiles in the waters, herds of elephants and buffaloes along the shores drinking water.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 8: Drive from Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on a 5 to 6 hour drive via Ishasha Sector. Observe the landscape gradually transforming from open savannah plains to thick and lush green forests. A memorable drive.

Day 9: Mountain gorilla trekking in Rushaga Sector

Wake up early for breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking by a guide, in groups of 8 people you will head into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour observing the gorillas play, feed and groom each other.

Later trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Drive from Bwindi to Lake Mburo National Park

After an amazing gorilla trekking experience, you drive from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Lake Mburo National Park. During this 7-hour trip, you see the forest-like landscape gradually transform into soft verdant hills and open savannah. Lake Mburo is packed with wildlife seeking green vegetation and refreshment, so grab your binoculars and be sure to stay on the lookout for zebras, giraffes and many different bird species.

Day 11: Walking safari – game drive in Lake Mburo National Park

Enjoy your breakfast and go for a walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park, during your walking safari you can explore this wonderful spot of land from a completely different point of view. Hike through savannahs, woodlands and lakeshores and learn more about the flora and fauna from your experienced guide. Here, you can come close to animals like zebras, impala and giraffes and watch the park’s famous hippos from a safe distance.

Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a game drive on which you will see several animals including zebras, giraffes among others.

Day 12: Drive back to Entebbe – Flight home

After breakfast you will have a morning game drive and later embark on a drive back to Kampala. Your guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
