DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrive at Kigali international airport where your safari guide from Salt Holidays will warmly welcome you. depending on your time of arrival, you will have a city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial, local markets and artisan shops. Afterwards, head to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to volcanoes national park

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to volcanoes national park, passing Rwanda’s rolling green hills. On arrival, check into the lodge for some relaxation and prepare for the next day activities.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. Hike through bamboo forests and volcanic slopes until you encounter a gorilla family.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, feed, interact with one another and breastfeed. After the trek, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Golden monkey trekking and visit to iby’iwacu cultural village

In the early morning, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the golden monkeys. Once located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them play, jump from one tree to another and feed. After, return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will visit the iby’iwacu cultural village, where you will learn about Rwanda’s traditions. While there, you will participate in their local dances and local brew making using bananas and see how they used to dress. After, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer to nyungwe national park

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and embark on the journey south towards Nyungwe national park, passing beautiful tea plantations and small towns. On arrival, check into the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking in nyungwe

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, enter into the forest in search of the habituated chimpanzees in the lush rainforest. Once they are located, you will spend an hour with the chimpanzees as you watch them in their habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Nyungwe canopy walk and nature walk

Have breakfast and head to the forest for a canopy walk, a thrilling suspension bridge offering stunning aerial views of the forest canopy and its diverse wildlife. After returning to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon have a guided nature walk along one of Nyungwe’s scenic trails, immersing yourself in the park’s unmatched biodiversity. After, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, drive back to Kigali with scenic stops along the way. On arrival in Kigali, you will be dropped off at Kigali international airport for your flight back home.
