Detailed Itinerary of 4 Days Uganda Rwanda Double Gorilla Trekking Tour

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our African Vacation Safaris Representative. He will brief you about the safari and set off on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route lunch in Mbarara and a stop at Kayabwe Equator Crossing for pictures and a chance to stand in both Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Arrive in the park in the evening, check in at your lodge, refresh as you wait for dinner and spend an overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest & Batwa Cultural Experience

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and with your packed lunch box, head to the park headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking and the right way to behave while amidst the gorillas. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and with armed ranger guides head into Bwindi Forest looking for mountain gorillas.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest takes approximately 2 to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night, when you locate the gorillas you will spend only one hour in the presence of the gorillas observing them feed, groom each other and pick fruits and leaves which they eat. You are free to take as many photo as you wish as long as your flashlight is off.

Then trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to your lodge to freshen up and relax for a while. In the evening you will head to the Batwa Village for a cultural experience, here you be entertained by local dances and drama, visit the medicine man who will demonstrate different use of herbs to cure several illnesses. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and embark on a journey to Volcanoes National Park with border crossing at Katuna Border, after clearing with the park authorities you will continue to Volcanoes National Park with en-route lunch. Arrive in the park in late afternoon, check in at your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking & Departure

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking in Rwanda, what to expect and the right way to behave while in the presence of the gorillas. In groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, head into the misty forest of Volcanoes National Park looking for mountain gorillas.

Guided by experienced ranger guides, you will traverse the uneven landscape of the park looking for the gentle giants. The trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Once you locate these amazing primates, you will spend one hour in their presence watching them play, feed and groom each other. Then trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to your lode for lunch.

Later check out and embark on a journey to Kigali City where you will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home or to your next destination.
