Detailed Itinerary of 10 Days Tanzania Safari & Zanzibar Vacation

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our Salt Holidays Representative and transfer you to your hotel. By population, Arusha is the Tanzania’s third-largest city and is known for its convenient access to legendary attractions such as Mount Kilimanjaro and Serengeti National Park.

Day 2: Arusha to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, meet your driver-guide and journey to Serengeti National Park, a world famous Tanzania safari park teeming with Africa wildlife, including the sort-after “Big Five”. Along the journey you will drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arrive in the park and enjoy lunch at a picnic site. Spend the afternoon exploring the Serengeti Plains searching for various animals calling the park home. In the evening, head to your camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park

Wake up early and head to the park for a full day game viewing experience with your packed lunch boxes offering fantastic wildlife spotting opportunities. As you drive through the endless plains you will spot a variety of wildlife including wildebeests, zebras, giraffe, giraffe, hyena, hippo, crocodile, monkeys, snakes and various antelopes among others.

Enjoy lunch at one of the picnic sites in the park and continue with the game drive till evening. Return to your campsite for a campfire session, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu

Full of unforgettable memories, you will journey to Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world. The Ngorongoro region is filled with unique geology supporting high diverse wildlife.

Descend into the Ngorongoro crater for a game drive offering incredible sightings of prides of lions, wildebeests, gazelles, hippos, rhinos, cheetahs, leopards, zebras and flocks of flamingoes and other water birds on the shores of Lake Magadi in the corner of the crater.In the evening, ascend to the Ngorongoro rim and head to your camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Karatu to Arusha

Today you will embark on a journey back to Arusha, with enroute stop for an immersive experience of Mto wa Mbu’s lively village markets, known to be rich the freshest local produce and unique handcrafted goods.

Continue to Arusha where you will be dropped off at the camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Arusha to Bagamoyo/Moshi

After breakfast, embark on a journey heading towards the coast, the seaside town of Bagamoyo, one of the oldest port cities in Tanzania. The place has a bittersweet blend of a poignant slave trade past, natural attractions, and well-maintained colonial architecture and charm. Along the way you will enjoy en-route lunch and on arrival you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Dar Es Salaam to Zanzibar

Leave Bagamoyo, and head to Dar es Salaam to catch the ferry to the paradise island of Zanzibar where you will spend the next 2 nights. Unwind on the beach, take a dip in the swimming pool, or explore the surroundings by renting a bicycle.

Day 8: Zanzibar

Today you spend the whole of your day at leisure to do as your heart desires, explore your surroundings, visit some local attractions, take part in the optional activities available such as scuba diving, dhow cruise, visiting the Prison Island or relax on the poolside or on the beach with a book or a cocktail in hand.

Day 9: Zanzibar- Stone Town

Journey to Zanzibar’s west coast to wander the streets of Stone Town on a walking tour on which you learn about the town’s deep history, noteworthy landmarks, and historic buildings. Before arriving in Stone Town. You will have a stop at the spice plantations for an immersive tour of the spice farms and industry.
